CB radio service was first begun in United Kingdom sometime in the 1970?s. There were a few illegal users around them, and, due to a sudden spur in the growth of illegal users, CB radio service was legalized in 1981. The early illegal users imported the equipment from United States. After legalization, the UK government stamped all the approved equipment with two logos: CB934/81 or CB27/81. A license was required to operate CB radios, a document that could be obtained from the post office. But that was then, in 2004, licensing was scrapped.

Live from the UN - America's Top Radio Talk Show Hosts
New York, N.Y. (Vocus) June 7, 2007-- More than a dozen talk radio show hosts - from both regional and nationally syndicated shows - broadcast live today from the United Nations in New York during the second annual "Talk Radio Day at the UN." The talk radio hosts interviewed United Nations officials from around the world including the Deputy Secretary General Asha Rose Migiro. Ambassadors Sir Emyr Jones Parry from the United Kingdom and Thomas Matussek from Germany, Deputy Ambassador Henri-Paul Normandin from Canada, and former U.S. Ambassador William Luers, current president of the United Nations Association of the USA, were also interviewed.
"Today, voices from around the country have joined with representatives from around the world," said Kathy Bushkin Calvin, Chief Operating Officer of the United Nations Foundation. "We hope the end result will be a better understanding of the United Nations and its role in our society."
Among the hosts expected today are the Reverend Al Sharpton of the Al Sharpton Show, Lionel of Air America Radio, Alan Stock and Kerri Kasem of KXNT in Las Vegas, and Alan Colmes of Fox Radio News.
Talk Radio Day 2007 is an initiative of the United Nations Foundation, Talkers magazine, Talk Radio News Service and the United Nations Department of Public Information.
The talk radio hosts began broadcasting live at 5:00 am and will continue throughout the day until 8:00 pm. UN Dispatch, a UN-related blog, is also posting live throughout the day on www.undispatch.org.
After the day of broadcasts, Talkers magazine plans to use key excerpts from its conversations and interviews to produce a radio documentary, which will air on its official podcasting website, www.podjockey.com.
